The cameras corresponding to a specific manufacturer are identified in a table, where each row provides a thumbnail picture, identifies its common name and its type.
Within the index list, each camera manufacturer is identified by their common or generic name. Generally no distinction is made within the index page to name changes that occurred during the history of the company or to differences in company name across different countries where cameras were manufactured. For example, all Kodak cameras are listed under the general name Kodak, whether manufactured by Eastman Kodak Company in the US, Canadian Kodak Company or Kodak Ltd in the UK.
The links on the navigation bar to the left identify the camera manufacturers that are represented within the collection. Selecting a particular manufacturer will load the relevant index page with the table that lists the corresponding cameras within the collection. The multiple index pages are divided up alphabetically to reduce the performance impact when loading the index tables, since each table may contain many thumbnail images.
Clicking on Maker Index link in the menu bar will return you to this introductory page. Clicking on the up-arrow below any table will return you to the top of the loaded (alphabetic) index page.
Clicking on the thumbnail image within any of the index tables will open the specific page for that camera (or in some cases, a related group of cameras). If a default image is shown in the table, then the page exists but has as yet to have photographs added.
All camera, film or plate size dimensions are in inches unless specified otherwise.
