No 4 Thatched Cottage

This cottage is number 4 in the numbered series of cottages produced by Mudlen End Studio and is referred to as the Thatched Cottage with bedroom under roof.

No 4 Thatched Cottage with For Sale sign

This cottage can also be found bearing a For Sale sign for local estate agents. The example bears a For Sale sign for "Chas Boardman & Son", estate agents and auctioneers based in Haverhill and Clare in Suffolk.

The group of 2 smaller pictures below show a close up of the sign and the underside of the model, which is not marked. Note that there is some evidence of slip or some other form of fixative, suggesting that this cottage may once have been attached to something. It may be that this cottage was originally fixed to an ash tray, as with the example in my collection that is based on Cottage No 16.

I have as yet to find a cottage bearing a sign for any other local agent. All the examples I have seen to date have been for "Chas Boardman & Son".

Notes

The basic model, as shown here, is not as common as some others [Common], but is also available in other colours, notably red [Uncommon] and blue [Hard to Find]. The version with the For Sale sign is difficult to find [Scarce].
