No 42 The Bank

Numbered Series

This cottage is number 42 in the numbered series of cottages produced by Mudlen End Studio and is identified in the Mudlen brochure as The Bank "Sculptural details: Flanked by a bureaucrat and a Bank Manager, the potter is depicted wrestling with his overdraft".

There is also a version of this model that carries the name "National Westminster Bank" as opposed to just "BANK" as shown in the example in the photo below. This example also carries a Mudlen End backstamp.

The image below shows the two models side by side. The blue detail that shows up quite clearly in this photograph on some of the edge detail, particularly on the model on the left, is actually part of the glaze and not an artefact of the photograph or the image processing.

Notes

This model is difficult to find [Hard to Find], particularly the version carrying the National Westminster Bank name, and is only found in this grey stone finish as far as I am aware, although the colour of the stonework and roof can vary.
